I just recently took photos of my friend’s little girl for her 6th birthday. Honestly, it feels like she was just born! My most vivid memory of her little tiny self is of her in an adorable cherry print bathing suit heading to the pool for the first time. Time truly flies!
Her birthday party is mermaid & pirate themed and when I found out I just had to take mermaid photos! That and I’ve been dying to do so anyway. Win win!
Her mama and I looked online for a mermaid costume and I found one on Etsy. While it was beautiful and exactly what I had envisioned, it came with a hefty price tag. $195 for a costume?! Umm, no. I tell my clients all the time that I love DIY and customizing sessions to fit their unique personalities. I took on the challenge of making this costume and I’ve got to toot my own horn here, y’all! It worked out.
The best part was that I’m fairly certain it made Mileni feel like a mermaid. 🙂
I had fully intended on gifting her the costume, but her mama insisted that another little girl might want to use it for their own mermaid session. So it has been added to our prop stash. She did get to walk away with a smile and a starfish headband though 🙂
Happy Birthday, Mileni! Thank you Yvonne for all the fun that was this entire session <3
